Cares about the Environment!
Solar Electricity
Raja Ampat does not have centralized electricity. Our buildings are electrified with solar power. While other homestays use noisy gas powered generators, we are committed to a less impactful experience. An important goal of OLDH is to run a compressor and fill tanks with solar energy.
Grey Water
Fresh water is a limited resource. Water for the shower/toilet is from a semi-fresh spring. We divert run off from the showers and laundry to our garden and orchard area. Grey water in Raja Ampat goes directly onto the ground so we use environmentally friendly detergents.

The Menu
We serve freshly prepared meals from Indonesian sourced ingredients including fish and chicken. It is part of our long term planning to have a garden and orchard to supplement the menu.
Here is one of our young banana trees!
Community Engagement
We are a locally owned business and part of the Raja Ampat, Mansuar community. It is part of our mission to model and promote sustainable life practice. Local villages need basic resources such as home tools, sun glasses and dive gear. If you want to bring donations please contact us.
Be part of the pollution solution!
Raja Ampat doesn't have trash pick up and the main method of disposal is burning. This increases our awareness of trash and trash toxicity. Please be mindful of what you bring on your vacation and plan to take non-organic trash with you.
Your Ideas?
Most divers have other professional skills. We welcome your feedback and ideas on how to apply new approaches and technologies to minimize our impact while enjoying nature.
